For over 20 years, the Rotary Club has hosted the refreshment tent for the Torchlight marchers. This year, the annual Torchlight Parade (aka Torchlight Muster) took place on Dec. 12, 2009. Fife & Drum Corps from all over the state and beyond take part in this event which was founded and still organized today by Bill Reid, a military historian from Westbrook. The Torchlight Parade dates back to the revolutionary war era when townspeople gathered and marched with candlelights. We are proud to play a role in this time honored tradition unique to Old Saybrook. The parade begins at the top of Main St. and ends at the Town Green. We thank the following contributors of baked goods: Dunkin Donuts I & II, Vanderbrooke's, Cloud 9, Stop & Shop of Old Saybrook, Paperback Cafe, Dagmar's Desserts, Starbucks, and J.A.M.S.S. Restaurant. Thanks to Saybrook Health Care and the kitchen staff for allowing us the use of their facilities to prepare the hot chocolate.
