Program: Police Chief Michael Spera – Director of Emergency Management for Old Saybrook
Chief Spera distributed a flyer describing actions that citizens should take to be prepared for possible tropical storms. These included: taking photos of your home, vehicles, and possessions; securing propane tanks and lawn furniture; preparing an evacuation kit. A Q&A session followed the presentation. Topics included: emergency community shelters, registration with www.ctalert.gov, pet care during emergencies, and volunteers.
Chief Spera offered the Rotary Club the opportunity to participate in a Citizen’s Police Academy. The Rotary would be the first civic organization to participate in such a program. A survey about our interests will follow and Doug Wisner will help coordinate this program with the police department.
