Program: Student of the Month – World Language

L-R: Brynn McGlinchey, Samantha Cates (missing from picture Samuel Carlson)

Superintendent Jan Perruccio introduced administrators, teachers and students from the Westbrook, Old Saybrook, and Lyme/Old Lyme school districts. (Excellent job, again).

Westbrook High School: Principal, Tara Winch, and teacher Lisa Finnegan, described Samantha Cates as a NHS scholar, athlete, and a student dedicated to community service. Samantha has taken all of the French classes offered including an Independent Study for French IV. She is an active member of the French Club and is a participant in the French Exchange Program. Samantha plans on studying law and becoming a prosecutor.

Lyme/Old Lyme High School: Associate principal, Ms. Manfredi, and teacher, John Wong, described Brynn McGlinchey as a student who can never rest because she is involved in so many activities in the school as well as the community. She is the student rep. on the Board of Education, a member of the Chinese Club, and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. The two words that best describe Brynn: altruistic and positive. She is presently a Junior and plans on studying World Language while attending college.

Old Saybrook High School: Associate principal, Joe Anastasio, and teacher, Manon Zumbaum, described Samuel Carlson as an excellent and well-rounded student. His interests vary from music and stage crew to building furniture. Although quiet in the classroom, his classwork and projects are always excellent. Samuel was unable to attend today’s program. We look forward to meeting him in the near future.

Announcements: Marty gave a report on the success of the Wine Tasting Event held on 2/9/18. It was a “total team effort” and when all is said and done will be more successful than last year’s event. Thanks to Marty and Pat for serving as co-chairs and agreeing to run next year’s event as well.

Meals on Wheels: this week, Brent Taylor/Pete Zucco; next week, Brent Taylor/Charlie Renshaw.

Guests: Suzanne McConville – prospective new member.

Tari Marshall – AG – will be returning at a future meeting to explain her present role in Rotary and how she can help us become a better Club.
