MacLean Saar of Westbrook HS is enthusiastic, inquisitive and dedicated with a can-do spirit.Despite challenges, nothing stops MacLean!

After students of the month, the DARE graduates read their essays. They talked about learning decision making skills, the health issues associated with smoking, drugs, and alcohol. They also spoke about bullying and the consequences. The 10 week program which is largely underwritten by our club reinforces decision making skills. Brian DeBlasiis is a DARE grad himself and he vouches for the things he learned which he carries with him today.  Lt. Tim McDonald runs the program for 5th graders in the Middle School and St. Johns. Chief Michael Spera talked about safety in schools - a top priority - using a holistic approach.

We received a letter of gratitude from the Rotary Club of League City. Our club made a $5000 contribution to help people who suffered from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey late August 2017. The League City Club used the funds to purchase new refrigerators, washers, dryers and ranges for many people. Money also went to fixing homes and replacing furnishings. Additional grant money came from RI. Marty worked with Ava Sloan, President of the club from 2017-2018.
