PROGRAM

Presenter Luciano Duffy founder of “Locks for Luke”. The purpose of the activity is to raise funds for Camp Rising Sun. The Camp provides a place where kids from 5 – 17 years with cancer can gather and have fun.

Luke was diagnosed with cancer at 18 months, five years later was cancer free and moved on with life. Luke has been attending Camp for 11 years, making strong bonds with kids from all around Connecticut.

Our Interact Club was very involved with this year’s event. Last year the event raised $7,000.00 this year $14,000.00. The Interact students were very active with publicity, promotion, fund raising, an all aspect of the event.  Good things happen when everyone is on the same page.

This year attendance topped 350, 67 folks lost their locks. As with last year the event was dedicated to Marik. A friend of Luke who died last April.

Luke thanked The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook for their support, with a special thanks to Mrs. Scherber.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“Microscopic minds which are habitually occupied in the consideration of what is little are incapable of discerning what is great”

THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say, or do

1)   Is it the TRUTH?

2)   Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3)   Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDHSIPS?

Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned
