Program: Jack Solomon, District Governor
Tari’s Raffle winners were: Devin Carney and Charlie Norz. Jack’s first order of business was to challenge the OSHS Interact Club to work with other District Interact Clubs and apply for a District Managed Grant this academic year. Jack’s message to us focused on membership. He suggested that our club investigate new models for Rotary Membership, create new Interact and Rotaract Clubs, and continue with our active Membership Committee. To increase our membership, Jack suggested: public service projects aimed at attracting new members, encouraging members to make an effort to become friends with new members, and holding fellowship events throughout the year. Jack then described his Governor’s Project for the upcoming year. He challenged our Club to complete a STEM Project and had these specific suggestions:

1)      Support Robotics Teams at the high school level.

2)      Serve as judges for an Invention Convention at the middle school level.

3)      Offer scholarships to science teachers for classroom STEM projects/activities.

4)      Organize a STEM Summer Camp for middle school students.

Jack ended his presentation with a reminder of the District Conference to be held 4/24/20 in Mystic and a suggestion to establish an annual “Rotary Day” in town.
