Old Saybrook

Shelia Riffle, Principal and Jamie Gowdy, English Teacher, introduced The Student of The Month, Isabella Carlo.  Isabella is very involved in all aspects of school activities, music, quiz bowl, etc. She attended the Harvard Global Health Conference and worked on a project concerning the impact of back-packs on young people and brought the program to students in Old Saybook. Isabella is highly motivated and takes very challenging courses, AP literature, she is an example of a student teachers love to teach.

Westbrook

Tara Winch, Principal and Nancy Malafonte, English Teacher, introduced The Student of The Month Juliana Fabrizi. Juliana is at the top of her class an involved leader, an excellent example of the motto, “Service Above Self”. Juliana has been and still is involved with the Girl Scouts a great motivator. She has taken several UCONN courses and loves literature.

Lyme/Old Lyme

Jen Burke, English Teacher, introduced The Student of the Month, Jane Scheiber.  Jane is a very dedicated student, a scholar, and very strong academically. Jane won first prize in creative writing, is Outbreak editor, and involves many other students in her activities. She writes for the Lyme Land Trust and is a member of the National Honor Society.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

A.  Avenue of Service “New Generations” The group met recently and discussed have Senior Awards Night and Teacher Recognition again next June.  World Affairs and RYLA were successful programs again this year.  A motion to fund the program again these outstanding programs next year was made and seconded and approved by voice vote.  Great Programs!

B.  Kathy Callinan reported of the Hat Project. Samples passed around for all to see. Club will consider project with Hats/Logo to wear and sell, $23.00 each.

C. Legacy Project Group met with Ray Allen, Park and Rec, and talked about the Disc Golf Court project at Clark Field.  Many questions remain, talks will continue.

D. Keep Wine Tasting project in mind. Think about sponsors, raffle items, this is a Club wide activity, think Promotion.

E. Remember cell phone manners, silence phones, and use common sense.
