PROGRAM

Shoreline Science Works S T E M Matt Sagenelli

Plan is to establish a Camp for give or take 15 6th and 7th grade students for S T E M, science, technology, engineering, mathematics.  This will be a 1 – 2-week camp, 7 – 8 hours per day with a professional giving the presentation each day.

The students will be working on physics, robotics, astronomy, the elements, chemistry, and anatomy. All activities will have an educational focus to increase interest in S T E M and to provide life skills such as learning to think and to work as a team.

Matt has been involved with and will assist The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook in setting up a S T E M program and locating a person to run the program, such as a local science teacher. Instructors could be recruited from local colleges and universities, Yale, Wesleyan, CSSU, SCSU, Middlesex Community, etc.

District Governor Jack Solomon suggested The Club use District 7980 resources as the program develops. In addition, The Club may want to include neighboring Rotary Clubs in the project.

The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook. Special Projects Group, is looking to sponsoring this program.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“I am only one, but still I am one.

I cannot do everything, but I still I can do something.

And because I cannot do everything,

I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”

THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say, or do

1)   Is it the TRUTH?

2)   Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3)   Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDHSIPS?

4)   Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned?
