PROGRAM
Salvation Army
Katie Perrett Volunteer Coordinator Southern New England Division for The Salvation Army spoke to The Club. Katie held the position of Camp Director for The Salvation Army’s Camp CONNRI, in Ashford, CT. The camp runs summer youth programs and is also a Lodge and Conference Center. Following this assignment Katie was appointed Volunteer Director.
The Christian movement was founded in London England in 1865 by William and Catherine Booth and in 1878 the name The Salvation Army was adopted. The leadership is based on the army model. The pastors are also officers.
The local activities of The Salvation Army are coordinated by Susan Consoli, Old Saybrook’s Social Service’s Director. Money raised for Old Saybrook goes to purchasing a variety of item, diapers, food, heating oil, and on and on. All put to good use.
A variety of programs are offered locally. Bell Ringers where 90% of money donated stay’s locally, Second Time Around a consoling and support group.
Katie asked The Rotary Club of Old Saybook for any help they can give. Volunteers are always needed, especially as Bell Ringers.
Coordinating with Susan Consoli offers The Club a wonderful opportunity to expand our Community Service Avenue of Service.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“I am only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I still I can do something.
And because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”
THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say, or do
1) Is it the TRUTH?
2) Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3) Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDHSIPS?
4) Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned?
