Happy Bucks: Many for the great weather, glad to see everyone healthy and on Zoom, strawberries and strawberry shortcake, several for our guests, Connecticut ranked number one in Covid-19 response, someone (?) who musical talent will soon be on display, Ron is celebrating, with his grandchildren, Father’s Day, a daughter’s birthday, and his wife’s retirement. Gary is happy for a great year for OS Rotary.

President’s Update:
Harbor News ran a great article highlighting OS Rotary’s contributions and commitment to our local communities.  Thank you notes were received from the Town of Westbrook, a scholarship recipient, and a gift card recipient.

Year in Review: Gary McCauley
Gary began by thanking Brian DeBlasiis for serving as Club President and everyone who helped out and stepped up during the year. New members this year are: John Aforismo, Pat and Patty DeVito, Alan Schwarz, and Nathan Wise. Gary reviewed the three major fundraisers of the year and expressed concern about their success in t year of COVID-19. The Paul Harris Award winners this past year were Kathy Callinan, Joan Michaud, and Sam Fulginiti. Gary announced that OS Rotary, with the help of our District, contributed $19,000.00 to local communities to help combat the effects of COVID-19 on small businesses, community services, and the unemployed. Zoom meetings will continue until a suitable venue, with outside seating, is found.

Old Saybrook Long Term Recovery Task Force: Gary explained that a major goal is to expandthe visibility of the non-profits in town. This will be accomplished by enlisting the aid of high school students to establish a plan to use social media to make the community aware of the non-profits and their services.

            Macaroni Dinner- October 18th at Fireman’s Field. Take out only.

            Golf Tournament has been moved to May 2021.

            Omaha Steaks fundraising program is a go. The Amazon Smiles Program is almost ready to launch.

Other Topics: Pete Zucco announced that OS Rotary has donated a Weber Gas Grill to the Chamber of Commerce for their on-line auction. Profits from the auction will benefit small businesses and non-profits. Saybrook Hardware donated a gas cylinder and cooking utensils bringing the value of the grill to $550.00.
