President’s Update:
Check out the recent edition of the Neighbor’s Magazine. There are two articles ofinterest. One is about how Connecticut Rotary Clubs are helping local communities during the pandemic. The other highlights the Chamber’s upcoming golf tournament.
At the next meeting, Bill McLaughlin will comment on an article that appeared in the most recent issue of the Rotarian Magazine. This will become a monthly event and volunteers are needed to lead the discussion of current topics presented in our magazine.
Thank you notes were received from grateful recipients of the restaurant gift card program. The Chamber thanked us for the donation of the gas grill for their successful auction fundraiser.

John Aforismo: Fundraising Committee Report
John presented the committee’s plan for a takeout macaroni dinner to be held on October 18th from noon until 5:00pm. The event, if cleared by the health department, will be held at Fireman’s Field. Many volunteers, for a variety of jobs, will be needed not only on the 18th, but also in the months before the dinner. The Club voted to approve the committee’s plan for the dinner. John then passed out ice cream sandwiches. Note: the ice cream was not a bribe, it was just a thank you for voting the correct way.

Pete Zucco: Membership Chair
Pete explained that this year’s membership drive has a goal of ten new members. Information about the Club’s events and activities will be sent to “targeted” prospective members throughout our three communities. If you have some “targets” in mind, please fill out the information form and return it to Pete.

Devin Carney: State Representative
Devin updated us on the recent legislative session. Topics included: Voting; absentee ballots will soon be available to people with concerns about COVID-19. School opening; will be up to individual school districts. The Police Accountability bill has passed and will go into effect next year.

Worth Noting:  This was the first in person meeting since March 10th. Sixteen Zoom meetings have taken place since then. It was great to “see” everyone. Hopefully, we will have another in person meeting. Let’s not wait another 16 weeks.
