THE FOUR-WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do
First...
    Is it the TRUTH ?
Second....
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third....
Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Fourth....
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Old Saybrook Long Term Recovery Team subcommittee on Nonprofit Groups Success is producing a series of Public Service Announce (PDA ) to highlight groups. They are filming the Estuary Counsel today. Our Club will have a PDA which will include filming at the Macaroni Dinner event Oct. 18.

On Wednesday, Pres. Gary went to New Haven and picked up 3,000 masks as part of the Million Mask Challenge by RI. The masks will be donated to the Westbrook facility of Middlesex Health. To learn more go to this news link.

Robin Morrell will be transferring to our club from the Southington Club. Great addition!

MACARONI DINNER, Oct. 18:

John and Gary put up this banner on Boston Post Rd next to Northeast Medical.
Another is going up across town on Rt. 1

We are close to prime time - just a week away! Its time to push ticket sales! Final preparations are underway - VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED so please sign up with John for time(s) when you can help.
Oct. 14: A run-thru at the facility for getting a layout planned for the preparation and dispensing of the meals
Oct. 17: Cooking at 2pm to 7pm (Meatballs, sause, etc.)
Oct. 18: Someone will be there at 7am. Tent goes up and final preparations.
Donations are coming from Stop & Shop (bags), Nancy's Rosemary & Sage Restaurant (utensils), Domino's (cheese packets) and more. Ben & Jerry's is giving coupons to put into the bags. Polio Plus informational flyers are being printed for insertion inside the bags.
Pete will print sponsor stickers for the bags.
2 banners are going up, the digital signs in town are flashing the event and John is putting up posters around town. Amber will be helping out with her daughter and will enlist the Interact Club if possible. All particpants must wear a mask during the event. Gary has official Rotary masks to give out to club members.
This is a new fundraiser and its very important that it be successful so that the club can continue its important work in the community and beyond. So lets get to work!

Gary: once a month a report from various committees and Avenues of Service will take place. Check your assignment and if you aren't listed on any let Gary know what committee(s) you'd like to serve on.

Pete Zucco, Membership
Pete would like more names to include in his mailing list. He will be doing a mailing soon that will include pictures of the Macaroni Dinner.

Marty, Website
Gary sent Marty a Rotary suggested "protocol" for club websites which Marty passed on to Stepanie at Web Solutions, our host. It was helpful and will figure in our plans for a website upgrade.

Gary called on Superintendant Jan Peruccio to talk about the school system. All 3 schools are back to full time - so far so good. Student of the Month, as we have done in the past at meetings, has been unfortunately suspended but they will continue to award SOM with a possible plan for a ceremony in the spring to honor the students.

Charlie Norz, Dictionary Project
Dictionaries were received and stickers applied for the 3rd graders in Lyme-Old Lyme and Old Saybrook but so far we have not heard from Westbrook. Charlie is waiting for names to proceed but unfortunately, we cannot go inside the buildings to personally give them out so they will be dropped off once arrangements are made.

Pat Devito, Grants
Pat has received online training on district managed grants applications. There will be sessions on global grants Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.

Website change: Per a suggestion from Gary, the HOME PAGE now shows a picture of the Million Mask Challenge truck instead of the garbage truck. Great idea!

Charlie Norz, Foundation
Our accounts are holding steady, some days up - some days down but overall in good shape
