 Marty D happy to see Brian DeBlasiis, living in Bluffton, SC, Bill McL happy to see Brian, Charlie N happy to see Brian and Merry Christmas, Charlie R happy to see Brian and for UConn women victory vs Creighton, Pattie DeV sad dollar for flu troubles, Pat DeV happy to have a vaccine coming, Joan M happy to see Brian, he looks good, John A glad to see Brian and Happy Holidays, Brian DeB happy to be with us via Zoom and to see that Brent T is still ding M O W, Gary McC happy  to see Brian and wishes one and all a joyous Holiday Season.

PROGRAM

 Brian DeBlasiis, former President, “The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook”, joined us via Zoom. Brian is living in Bluffton SC and works in the District Attorney office in Savannah, SC. Things are open in Savanah and business is as usual as it can get during these times. Brian works at the discretion of the District attorney, an elected position with a new DA elected. Brian is optimistic that all well be well.  Masks are worn and all of the work of the courts is done via Zoom.

On a personal note, the DeBlasiis’s plan to build a house in the spring and get settle in. Weather is great now in the 60’s and enjoyable. They plan on visiting Connecticut next spring. As is here real estate is doing very well In the Savannah area.

 

PRESIDENT’S UPDATE

1. PPE 1,500 masks coming in January.  2,000 adult masks in pipeline

2.  Westbrook Foundation pleased with the response and action s of the rotary Club of Old Saybrook with the Thanksgiving dinner. The Foundation request4d thw “The Club” apply for another grant in the spring.  Well Done!

3. John Aforismo responded to the “Ugly Sweater” his mask and beard look like Santa Claus.

FUND RAISING

1.)  Charlie Renshaw reported on the Golf Tourney contract on its way.

A.   Will need 72 golfers to close the course for the day.

B.   Sponsors are the real source of income

WEB SITE REPORT

Marty D and President Gary McC have had additional discussions with Web Solutions regarding updating our web site. Also, Marty’s daughter is in the web design business and is lending a hand.  Good stuff.

OTHER NEWS

1.    Club Hand Book update. Pat DeVito looking into putting “The Club” directory in digital form and what should be included, bio’s, etc. Pat is working with District for new ideas.

2.    Alan Schwarz looking into obtaining Rotary wearing apparel

3.    A short report was given on the many interesting stories in “The Rotarian” magazine. Members were reminded of the depth and strength of Rotary as an international organization and of the many varied tenants of Rotary. The fellowships of Rotary for example. Rotarians getting together in groups and share their passion’s, RV Fellowships, Card Players Fellowships, Bicycling Fellowships, and on and on you name it. All members were reminded to get involved and make things happen.
