Program: Mr. Dan Shultz, President of Sikorsky Aircraft, a Lockheed Martin Co.
Dan highlighted the history of Sikorsky Aircraft which began in 1923 on a farm near Roosevelt Field on Long Island. He included pictures which illustrated the evolution of the modern day helicopters. A short video highlighted the development of the military helicopters. He referred to the Raider and the Defiant Helicopters as the future of Army Helicopters. Dan was also proud of the Fire Hawk Helicopter which was instrumental in fighting the wildfires in California. Current research and development centers around electric propulsion and unmanned aircraft although we are a long way off from that. At 68 years of age, Dan has stepped down as the CEO of Sikorsky. Normally retirement is mandated at age 65 but Dan also presided over the transition to the new corporate structure as part of Lockheed Martin. Thank you, Dan, for an excellent presentation.
Upcoming Events: John Jackson, from Fox Hopyard, will speak at the next meeting. He will address the COVID-19 protocols and how they will affect the golf tournament to be held in May.
