 PROGRAM:

World Affairs Carroll University,  Waukesha, WI  June 15 – June 22, 2013

Topic of discussion  “Gender Equality”

Grant Patterson, Old Saybrook and Michael Schneider, Westbrook attended the conference.

They both had a very rewarding and fun experience starting with meeting fellow Conn. Students at Bradley taking different planes and routes and all arriving in Milwaukee at the same time

Grant roomed with a chap from Nepal and Mike had a roommate from Sheboygan, WI.

Michael and Grant took turns speaking and presenting their program, great job.

There were two speakers each day complete with much discussion time, on topic such as micro loans, most given to women, lack of opportunity for women worldwide, and a great deal of discussion regarding how changes can be made.

Examples of areas of discussion:

A young lady from Egypt, a journalist spoke about the extreme strict Islamic law and the hardships it causes. She escaped the country and is now giving a variety of ways change can happen.

Admiral Ann Rondo, the first Vice Admiral U S Navy, talked about gender challenges in the U S Navy. The prime mission is to provide equal opportunities.

The entire focus of the conference was focused on solving the problem with equal opportunity for all.

Both Michael and Grant were very pleased to have the opportunity to attend the conference and would highly recommend the program to none and all.
