Marty Drobiarz talked about our web site, osrotary.org, and explained the many facets of the site. He encouraged one and all to take advantage of the site. The more we use it the better it will become.

Good morning.  What a fun night we had at Luigi's last night!  The food was great, company was fabulous and all had a really great time!  We talk, we laugh, we eat, we are loud!   It's like my Italian family.  Marty, thank you for the OS Rotary website 101 class.  Now, everyone knows how to navigate our website!  Thanks Glen for setting this up for us.

The correct information on Bob Antoniac is that he is home.  Gail has received so many emails that she can't answer them all so has asked me to tell everyone to go on Facebook to get updates on Bob.  We're all thinking about you Gail and Bob.  BTW, Bob presented a request from HEAT to the club a couple of weeks ago, and OS Rotary donated $3,000 to this worthy cause.  We must never lose sight of our blessings and how we can "pay it forward" whenever we can folks.  *******Service Above Self*******

Last night when I got home I had a message on my answering machine from Christy Burnham.  Her husband, John was rushed to Middlesex Hospital on Tuesday.  So, if you get a chance you might want to drop Christy a note.  Her email is: attorneyburnham@yahoo.com  We're thinking about you and John, Christy.

Tuesday night Bill & Rosemary McLaughlin, Amber Scherber, and I attended the "Healthy Communities Healthy Youth" Community Summit at the High School.  Bill gave a brief update at dinner last night.  First Selectman Carl Fortuna, State Rep. Marilyn Giuliano and Congressman Art Linares were there supporting this effort as well as many parents, teachers and high school students.  What a great town we live in!   If you want to learn more about this effort, kindly go on the Youth and Family website.

Also, the OS Fire Department will be having a blood drive on November 1st, 11:00 - 4:30 at the Fire Department Headquarters at 310 Main Street.  Food and beverages will be provided by the OSFD.  All presenting donors will be entered to win a gift certificate to Mohegan Sun  dinner for 2; two tickets to a Mohegan Sun Arena event and one overnight stay.  For more information contact Max Sabrin 860-857-5300.

Charlie Norz reported on The Dictionary Project.  Of course, it was a big success.  The students are always excited when Rotary goes to the schools with dictionaries.  Mother Elaine from St. John's expressed her heartfelt gratitude to us.  Thank you, Charlie for heading up this project.  Thanks to the Rotarians who helped present the dictionaries.  Bill, Brent, Ken and I can't remember who else.  I'll catch up with you in my next update.

As you may or may not know, our Past District Governor Alan Hurst's wife, Gail Hamm passed away.  She had been battling cancer for the past 3 years.  The wake is Saturday, November 2nd from 3 - 6 p.m. at The Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main Street in East Hampton.   You can google her obit if you want to read about how active Gail was.

Our Holiday Dinner is Wednesday, December 18th and Glen and I will present dinner choices soon, so SAVE THE DATE!  I am looking into Waters Edge and Glen is checking with The Hideaway.  If you want to participate in a "chinese grab bag" or "yankee swap" or whatever you want to call it....(spend  up to $10.00) and LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!!!  If you want to suggest a third restaurant choice, kindly let me know.  John, if you want to check on The Old Lyme Inn, please do.  Thanks.

Next week we will be back at The Estuary to enjoy one of Stu's scrumptous breakfasts!  It's a pleasure to be with you and Kelly and Marilyn for breakfast, Stu.  You are sooooooo good to us and we appreciate you.

Upcoming Programs:  Next week, November 6th is Chuck Still, Executive Director of "The Kate"; (Chuck generously donates tickets to our wine tasting auction);

November 13th is Student-of-The-Month (Math);

November 20th was supposed to be Alan Hurst making a Foundation presentation, but we may have to put a hold on that.

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH.  Selectman Fortuna is hosting the festivities after the polls close at his headquarters in the OS Shopping Center after the election and all are invited.  If you have not personally spoken with Carl, this would be a great time to get acquainted.

Thanks to the efforts of Kathy and Amber and Jason, we are crankin' with the Liberty Bank/Rotary Turkey Drive.  The Turkey Legs are a big success.  Amber and the Interact students have contests going on at the High School and Jan has handed them out to the Goodwin School and Board of Ed and we've gotten calls from them for more legs!  Last night I asked Lenny if he would take some turkey legs and he did and sold a few while we were there!  Glen has them in his shop as well.  So, folks, let us not forget our friends and neighbors who need our help and support.

Thank you for all that you do for Rotary.  Be well and be safe.  g     GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!
