Happy Bucks: 5 weeks until spring, nice job Gerri & Marty on the wine tasting event, students of the month, winter olympians, to live in a beautiful town like Old Saybrook, happy birthday Kathy & Sandy, happy for the calm before the storm, happy daughter was selected for student of the month.

Bill read a letter from our President:
President Gerri thanked all Rotarians who volunteered their time to make the Wine & Beer and Auction event a huge success. There was a total of 150 particpants who attended. A huge Thank you to co-chair Marty who worked hard and donated many hours to the event. A round of applause for Stu who baked delicious cookies for the event. Gerri stated it was a record year, all categories were up and we broke the $14,0000.00 revenue mark. She asked if any members had any ideas, suggestions or changes for next year's event to please bring it forward while the event is still fresh in our minds. Marty also thanked everyone who particpated.

Annoucements:

Our next fund raiser is the Golf Tournament. All proceeds go to scholarships we give to students every year. Brent stated it will be May 22nd at the Portland Golf Course. He is talkng with Saybrook Ford for the Hole in One car and is in the process of putting teams together. The cost is $150.00 per player.

If there is any interest is particpating in the Saybrook Chamber Chili Festival, March 2nd, please E-Mail Gerri.

Charlie Renshaw will be inducted at the next meeting.

Marty stated a few members expressed changing the Student of the Month donation to Polio Plus back to giving each student a $25.00 donation or possible doing both. Brent referenced in order to move forward the Foundation Board must meet to discuss, make decision to be voted on at a future meeting. Rick will call a Foundation meeting.

Bill welcomed all Wolrd Language students.

Glenn introduced all three World Language students.

Lyme-OldLyme High School: Olivia Peck
Olivia is a visible member in her community. Olivia is vested in learning and  is poised and graceful. She is a communicator of the 21st century and speaks and writes fluently in many languages. She is not sure where she will be going to college but will stay involved in World Language.

Westbrook High School: Kally Donlon
Kally is a senior, is part of the student council and loves to play field hockey and is part of the school track team. She just completed a UConn French Junior program earning 6 credits. She speaks Spanish fleuntly and is looking at attending Southern CT majoring in Spanish. Her goal is to become an elementary teacher.

Old Saybrook High School: Robert O'Shaughnessy
Robert consistently contributes to his community. He is the go to guy at school and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Every morning he annouces the boys and girls basketball games and he never says "No". He shares his knowledge with other students. At this time Robert is undecided about his future plans but will always keep World Language a part of what ever he does. He has taken French 1, 2 & 3 and is currently taking French 4.
