STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Lyme/Old Lyme Student Philip Cohen

Michelle Dean introduced Phil, an open, kind, caring, natural born leader.  He enjoys people and reaches out to all around him. Phil was Active in the Young Education Society in helping young people. Phil enjoyed his High School experience, played football for The Warriors, quarterback, His plans are to attend Westfield State work toward a degree physical education , play football, graduate and become a teacher.

 

Westbrook  Student   Megan Maynard

 

Principal Hale introduced Megan to the Club. Megan is a very caring involved student. Megan was a member of the track team, acapela chorus.  Megan plans are to attend Newbury Culinary School, in Boston, this fall

 

Old Sayrook Student  Nicole Valente

 

Principal Shelia Riffle introduced Nicole to the Club. Nicole is the type of person that can be relied on to carry out the job. She works hard always extending herself to do her best on any project she undertakes, ala the Blood Drive. Nicole played soccer with the Old Saybrook Rams Championship team. Congratulations.  Nicole plan to attend Catholic University, Washington, D C this fall.

Spoke to the Club about the years activities.

Books for Ghana

Soup Kitchen breakfast Old Lyme Congregational Church

Holiday letters to service men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan

Participated in the fund raising program for Sgt David Tupper

Supported the Ecology Club and its activities

Sold flowers at the school plays and concerts

Conducted a bake sale at St. John’s school

Began a program of “No Dishes for a Week” solicited gift certificates from local restaurants, held a raffle made $500.00, worked well.

Phoenix project continues to grow and expand. Have a place to sort and store clothing. Items provided to help families displaced by home fire.

Attended a District 7980 Interact Club Conference.  All reported a meaningful conference.  OSHS prepared video of their activities, and showed it this morning. Good job.
