Once again, 3 of the areas finest high school students were in attendance with their parents. The subject was The Arts - a new designation suggested by Glen Anderson to encompass not just music but art and theater as well. Pictured below are Andrew Thorpe (Old Saybrook), Abigail Cipperone (Lyme-Old Lyme) and Rachel Gosselin (Westbrook). Andrew has many interests and whatever he undertakes, he does very well. Interests include art and videography. He was recently the lead in the production of West Side Story and helped in set design as well as acting. He plans on pursuing a career in the music industry. Abigail is very active in plays and the coral. She has achieved all-state status all 4 years in music. She will probably go into Humanities in college. Rachel Gosselin is very passionate and gives 100% in all her endeavors. She has a love and knowledge of music and plays several instruments including piano, flute and clarinet.

Gerri read a letter from Lindsay Scheinblum of the American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure. This is a popular event with hundreds of bike riders raising money for the cause. They would like our help, here is her message:
Good afternoon, I am reaching out to you for support of an event you may not be aware of, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) annual Tour de Cure. We are planning on hosting over 500 riders at our event on Sunday, June 14th at the Durham Fairground, Durham, CT. This is a one day cycling events for all ages and levels to help raise funds to further the ADA’s mission to Stop Diabetes. Every 19 seconds, someone is diagnosed with diabetes. There are 29.1 million (9.3%) people in the US living with diabetes, 350,000 are your Connecticut neighbors. I would like to invite the Rotary Club of Old Saybrook, Old Lyme and Westbrook to volunteer at this one-day cycling event. Volunteer groups are needed at two of our rest stops in Old Saybrook and Lyme. Please feel free to contact me for more information, look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks.
