Program: D.A.R.E. program
Our club has supported the DARE program for a number of years. Working with the Old Saybrook Police Dept., this has been a great way to get the word out to our youth that its ok to say no to alcohol, tobacco and drugs. The program helps build trust and a bond between the kids and local law enforcement to help them make good decisions and avoid the things that can change lives in a bad way. Led by Chief Michael Spera, the officers are dedicated to helping the children by being there for them and to answer their questions.

The children read excerpts their winning essays to the club. They had a common theme of making better choices, learning what drugs, alcohol, tobacco can do short term and long term. They can ask questions directly or submit them in the DARE box.

Announcements:

Gerri: Youth & Family Services needs a new flag and asked for the club to provide. It was voted on and agreed to get them whatever they need.

There will be a Foundation Board meeting following the regular meeting to discuss the new budget.

Libby Sherber sent a note of thanks for the clubs support of her senior project.
