Excerpt from the Club By-Laws Re: Election of Officers
Article IV Election of Officers Section 1 – No later than the earlier of thirty (30) days prior to the date of the Presidents-Elect Training Seminar scheduled during such Fiscal Year or March of such Fiscal Year at a meeting of the Members, the president shall ask for nominations by Members for president-elect, secretary, treasurer, and sergeant-at-arms. The nominations may be presented by a nominating committee or by Members from the floor, by either or by both as the Club may determine. If it is determined to have a nominating committee, such committee shall be appointed by the Club president who shall serve as its chair. The nominations duly made shall be placed on a ballot in alphabetical order under each office and shall be voted for at a meeting of the Members to be held no later than fifteen (15) days after the applicable date set forth in the first sentence of this Section 1. The candidates for president-elect, secretary, treasurer, and sergeant-at-arms receiving a two-thirds majority of the votes cast by club members present at the meeting shall be declared elected to their respective offices and to the Board with their respective terms beginning on 1 July of the next succeeding Fiscal Year. All votes for officers will be conducted in the manner outlined in Article VIII of these by-laws. All votes for officers will be conducted after the complete list of all nominees has been announced at a Club meeting and documented in the minutes and/or emailed to all active members, AND posted on the members section of the Club website for a minimum of ten days. The posting shall include the date of the meeting at which the vote will be conducted. Members who wish to vote must be present in-person at the meeting at which the vote is called. An affirmative vote of at least two/thirds of the members present in-person will elect the officer(s) for the following fiscal year. The position of president for the upcoming fiscal year shall be filled by the current president-elect, unless said person is no longer able to fulfill that role. In such instance, the club shall elect a new president according to the same process as outlined above for other officers.
