Pat Devito introduced our guest speaker, Marti Bradshaw from Stonington Rotary.

Marti Bradshaw is Co-President of Stonington Rotary. She is happy to attend our meeting to see what we are up to and to connect with other Rotarians. Marti will be attending her 12th Rotary convention in Houston and she has been to 4 continents for RI projects. What Marti does in her local club is only possible because of the international aspect of Rotary. You can do whatever you want, the help is there. Its all about service and being engaged. The pandemic has opened opportunities for some via Zoom online - it works well for some as opposed to physically attending meetings. There is a lot of diversity in the Stonington club. You do what you can, no attendance requirements as in the past. Marti has led the effort to help other clubs in Africa. Recently they sent 10 computers which were received with much joy. North Dakota has a large native American village who has received help as well. Marti is going to Tanzania with other Rotarians in the near future.

More from Gary:

Shred Day: SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 9am-12pm
John Aforismo reports we'll have both tents onsite. There is a lacrosse game Saturday but there will still be plenty of room to park and handle people. There will be portable bathrooms in the back of the high school, women can use the restrooms in the high school. There will be giveaways (letter openers, pads from Lighthouse printers). Lawn signs are up and the town digital sign will be flashing the event.

Summer Concert Series:
Let John Gianinni know if you would like to be on the committee.

Wine Tasting:
Marty, Gary and Pat D. met with Saybrook Point GM John Lombardo, Kim and Leslie to discuss the license issue. We do not want to get a temporary permit and designate a permittee as required if we were to go that route. We found a way to operate under Saybrook Points license. It will cause our cost to increase but at least we can go ahead with the event this year. So, sell tickets, get auction items and sponsors. Its full steam ahead!

Outreach:
The club is making a $1000 donation to the Ukraine fund. You can donate privately as well. John Aforismo said he has access to items (personal care) and the means to send to Ukraine. Let him know if you'd like to send items.

Website:
Marty has listed the current sponsors on the WT page
