Bill hosted an Induction Ceremony for Debra Lee.  We were all pleased to welcome the newest member of The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook, Debra Lee.

PRESIDENT’S UPDATE

1.)    OLD LYME ARTS FESTIVAL    Joan Winters

A.)    All went well and we should consider participating again next year.

B.)   We had a good spot and two Rotarian on each shift. Everyone did a good job.

C.)       Met several new people, possibly a new member

D.)       The event provided an opportunity to become better acquainted with the Old Lyme community and to promote Rotary.

 

2.)      MEETING CHANGE    Nancy Morin

A.)    The August 30, 2023, meeting changed from a noon meeting to an evening social gathering. We will meet at the Hide-A-Way restaurant, Old Lyme. 6:00 P M, order from the menu.

B.)     Beginning in September our meeting schedule is as follows:

The first and second Wednesday of the month we will meet at 7:00 A M.  The Estuary then Saybrook Point Inn

On the third and fourth Wednesday’ of the month we will meet at noon, both meetings will be at The V F W.

 

3.)    COMMODITIES EXCHANGE    Gary McCauley

A.)     The dedication held last week went well, with a good crowd.

B.)     Stuff already arriving.

C.)       The new roof has arrived and will be installed.

D.)       This provides an opportunity to actively promote recycling.

E.)    Question should the Club proceed with an effort to replicate this in Westbrook and Old Lyme?

4.)       ALSHEIMERS WALK         Susan Beaudon

A.)  The Walk will be held Saturday September 23. 2023

B.)   Meet at Ocean Beach Park New London, CT

C.)  All if the funds raised go to Alzheimer’s Research

D.)  Everyone give some thought about participating.

A.)      We have in hand $4,600.00 sponsor, looking for $15,000.00.

B.)    Looking for 76 golfers, have 32 in hand.

C.)          All is set with Fox Hopyard

D.)          Gary McC handling raffle stuff, get items to Gary A S A P

E.)     Actively work on signing sponsors

F.)      Work on signing up golfers and sponsors, get info to Charlie.

G.)          Diddy-bags, think of contents, will assemble 08/23/23 meeting.

 

4.)     MAC DINNER    John Aforismo

A.)    Tickets and posters have been printed.

B.)     Tickets will be available at Marty’s store.

C.)         All members will get ten (10) tickets to sell.

D.)         Price remains at $10.00   food up 25%
