INDUCTION of Alex DuVerger by President Nancy Morin
President Nancy inducted Alex DuVerger as a new member of The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook. Chip Adams sponsored Alex.
Nancy spoke to Alex about Rotary International with over 1.3 million members, 43,000 Rotary clubs in over two hundred countries. The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook is an active member of this great international organization. Alex received his pin and is now a member of The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook. Well done. The Club welcomed its new member, Alex Duverger.
VISITING ROTARIAN: Stephanie Philips, Stratford Rotary
Stephanie Philips, DG Elect 2025-2026, spoke to the Club about all that is going on in District 7980. A member Training Session will be held Saturday January 18. 2025, Quinnipiac. This is an opportunity to learn more about Rotary.
Rotary International Convention, June 21-25,2025, Calgary Alberta, Canada. The Convention Theme, Magic All Around. Staphanie urged all to consider attending the Convention. Having had the opportunity to attend a Rotary International Convention in Chicago in 2005, I know it is a wonderful experience.
PRESIDENTS REPORT: Nancy Morin
- The Rotary Foundation met in Madison and reported that District 7980 met the goal for money sent to R I.
- The Rotary Club of old Saybrook was one of five Clubs in the District that met the Polio Plus goal. Well done.
- Nancy urged members to be an (E R E Y), every Rotarian every year, donor to Rotary International Foundation.
- Student of the Month Wednesday December 11,2024 Saybrook Point Inn 7:00 A M.
- Our meeting Wednesday December 18th will be a Social Event. Soup and Salad noon V F W.
- Our Turkey Drive event is completed. Happy Bucks, etc. were matched $ 0.25 on the dollar by Liberty Bank. The result, $2,887.50 was donated to The Estuary to support the Soup Kitchen. Photo shoot after the meeting. Well done.
- Westport Rotary, Bwindi Hospital Udanda, Club voted to send $5,000 to help the project.

- $500.00, OSHS Frosty Five, 5K Run, approved. Event schedule for Saturday Dec 7 at 9:45 AM starting at OSHS.
- Working on a request for “Warm the Children” report next week
Westbrook Foundation Gary McCauley
Ninety turkey dinners were prepared by Ed’s Place. Rotarians assisted in the preparation and delivery of the meals. A successful event!
Peace Poles, Rosanne Farrell
Portable Peace Poles 6ft tall. Peace message to be written in three languages, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Total cost for poles $560.00 approved.
Torchlight Parade, Marty Drobiarz
Parade Friday December 14, 2024. 36th year of hosting the hospitality tent! The hot chocolate team, led by John Gianinni, will meet at the Estuary at 4:00 PM to make hot chocolate, three needed. John, Pete and Chip will be there. Club members collecting baked goods for the tent. Led by Gary, Sheila and Joy. Need help at the tent on the Town Green at 5:00 PM.
Grant Committee, Cheryl Nadzam
- Cheryl discussed a proposal for a DMG to support “Traveling Toys.”
- Toys are used to enhance learning in the schools in our towns. Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and Lyme/Old Lyme
- The Club voted yes to proceed with the Grant.
