Each student receives a certificate and $25. Congratulations! Bill McLaughlin pointed out that we've been doing this since 1992 and have awarded 243 students to date.

President Gerri welcomed our guests and passed out a copy of the NL Day which had a large photo and article about Angus McDonald.

Brent: There will be a brief meeting following the regular meeting of the Golf Tournament Captains and one teammate to discuss corporate sponsors for the next tournament. This is a process that must begin well in advance.

Marty: We will be holding our Wine Tasting and Silent Auction on Friday, Dec. 1. Marty & Rich are co-chairs. It will be held at the Pavilion at Clark Field and the price is $25pp. Price of admission includes wine, hors d'oeuvres, and music. The evening promises to be a lot of fun.

Charlie: The final delivery of dictionaries takes place Oct. 20 at Old Saybrook. That will conclude things for 2006 - our 5th year of giving dictionaries to 3rd graders of Old Saybrook, Old Lyme and Westbrook

Program:
Marty introduced Chuck Grieb, founder of Bikes for Kids. As a boy growing up during the Depression, Chuck was unable to afford a bike and from that experiance, founded Bikes for Kids. He's been running BFK for 17 years now and in that time, has given hundreds of bikes to kids who otherwise would do without. Chuck announced their annual fundraiser (5th), Mardi Gras Charity Ball which takes place on Nov. 10 at 7pm at Aleia's Restaurant. The cost is $45 pp and includes dinner and dancing with music by the Cartells. Call Chuck for tickets, 434-3684. Following his talk, President Gerri presented Chuck with a check for $200.
