Brent reported on the Saturday Hot Dog deal with the YMCA.  We lost $23.00.  Not bad for a first time event.  61 walkers and bike riders signed up but we didn’t feed them all.

Charlie Norz reported that this was Dictionary month.  Last year Rotary clubs around the U.S. distributed 2.5 million dictionaries.  This is our 9th year of doing this with a distribution of about 360.  Cost to the club is $1.70 delivered.  We will be making distribution on October 20th to Saybrook schools and the 21st for Westbrook in the morning and Old Lyme in the afternoon.

Marty Drobiarz reported on the up and coming Wine and Beer Tasting program.  Yes, Beer is included this year per the committee.  The date is changed again.  Now in stone, November 26th.  We will be at the Saybrook Point Inn rom 6pm to 9pm.  Thanks to Gerri Lewis, who knows Steve and Viola, owners, made the arrangements.  Food will be provided by the INN, with set up and take down.  The menu is:  Veg.cruditeson, assorted dips, cheese, fruit and crackers, baked ziti with garlic bread, meatballs, veg. quiche, bruschetta and crostini, a large antipasto and coffee or tea.  Tickets will be available next week. The cost is $35.00 per ticket.  For those of you who got gifts last year, start working again for this years auction.

Program was Toral Mahar from the Liberty Bank.  She explained how the Turkey drive works and what money is raised each year for the Drive.  Collections start October 12th and end November 20.  At that time, the bank will make its donation depending on the amount raised.  Hopefully this year, the target is $100.000.00.  $80,000.00 should be coming from the 23 Rotary clubs in the State and other donations.  Thank you Jason for brining Toral to the meeting.
