Program:  Jim Lamb of SARAH described the organization which operates out of Guilford and
Westbrook.  Over 50 years ago, 3 families in Guilford joined forces to create resources for
their children with intellectual and other disabilities where there were none and to be the
voice of those who could not speak for themselves.  Today SARAH is a family of agencies
with programs to serve people of all ages and differing abilities.  SARAH services now
reach the greater New Haven region to Middlesex, New London and Windham counties.
SARAH provides early intervention (birth to 3), life skills, work training and employment
supports to children and adults.  They partner with employers to provide job opportunities
for their clientele.  Much of these opportunities are for structured, repetitive work which
they do well.  There are about 45 business partners today and they would welcome more.
About 150 folks participate each day and transportation is provided were needed  There are
about 45 vehicles a day on the road transporting these folks.  Job coaches go out with the
new 'employee' to get them started.  SARAH is a chapter of ARC, the largest advocacy
organization for people with intellectual disabilities.

of the things we think, say or do
First...
    Is it the TRUTH ?
Second....
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third....
Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Fourth....
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
