    course of studies at UCONN.

Arabic, French and Latin.  Next year she's going to master Chinese.  Despite her prowess
in languages, she plans to follow a chemistry major in college.
Program:  Tony Carrano was on deck again talking about the High School building project
in Old Lyme.  As many may recall this was a very controversial issue in town where the
initial proposal was to construct a totally new High School, for several million dollars.  The
school board and townspeople finally settled on renovating the present school.  All the
schools in Old Lyme are in a campus environment and would maintain basically the same
arrangement.  The elementary and middle schools weren't too much of a problem but the
High School posed some interesting issues.  School still has to be held during all the
renovations necessitating portable classrooms that can be moved around, a totally stand
alone locker room facility for the gym, complete with showers and temporary walls being
erected and taken down during the life of the project.  Tony also mentioned other problems
of noise, smell and dust.  He indicated that the contractors were very accommodating to
minimize these disruptive issues.  The project is coming alone nicely with a new
auditorium and Commons (cafeteria) area.  The auditorium should be completed and ready
for use next spring.  When the whole project is finally done is 2013 it should be very nice,
functional and technologically up to date.  Tony had layouts and plans showing the project
and indicated that more information can be seen on the Region18.ORG website.
