Program: Principal Bob Hale introduced Sarah Luft, a senior at Westbrook HS
Sarah Luft, is an outstanding student as we know, she being a recipient of a Student of the Month award in English. Sarah is competing in a national competition sponsored by the American Legion in Indianapolis next week. As a sort of rehearsal, Sarah gave 2 speeches to the club, one 10 minutes and the other 4 minutes. As part of the rules of the competition, she spoke with no notes, no podium and no microphone. Sarah won regional and state competitions to get to this point - the finals in Indianapolis.
Sarah gave interesting speeches about the constitution, the Bill of Rights and what the founding fathers created in our system of checks and balances. She talked about today's world of social media (i.e. Facebook) and the impact on our daily lives as it relates to freedom of speech. While the content of her words were interesting and timely, what was amazing was Sarah's presentation. She spoke with an ease of a seasoned veteran of oratory, moving easily and holding everyone's attention. She never skipped a beat, having perfectly memorized her words yet delivered them in an easy converstional style. We wish Sarah good luck - we're sure she will do very well!

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
of the things we think, say or do
First...
Is it the TRUTH ?
Second....
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third....
Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Fourth....
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
