Lynn Faulstick presented Gerri Lewis, with the Governor's Citation, signed by Chip Lewis to acknowledge that our club has met all the standards set for activities and service. Thats a reflection of the leadership provided by President Gerri. Congratulations to Gerri and all the members!

Program:
On a busy day with lots going on, Ron Scott, Scholarship Committee Chairman, began by talking about the scholarship program. The Rotary Old Saybrook has awarded scholarships for many years and currently distributes about $27,000 a year. Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and must turn their transcripts in to continue to receive the sholarships. Ron reminded students and parents that only the student can access their transcripts.
    The scholarship committee consists of:
    Ron Scott, Chairman
    Shirley Von Dassel, Old Saybrook
    Ran King, Westbrook
    Dr. Ed Pinn, Old Lyme
Each member introduced the winners of their respective towns.
Below are this year's recipients. From L-R, Scott Fredrickson (Westbrook, 4 year), Chelsea Newman (Old Lyme), Lauren Marsten (Old Saybrook), Ron Scott, Caitlin Chapman (Old Lyme), and Tyler Clark (Westbrook).

Mohamed Adamaly, the GSE team leader, got up and spoke about his country and fielded questions including the recent Tsunami disaster. 50,000 lives were lost and Rotary was at the forefront of the recovery. A state-of-the-art school was built and lots of money came from Connecticut. Miraculously, the main city of Columbo, with a population of 3.5 million was spared the brunt of the damage while territory above and below were severely damaged. Below is the GSE team:
From L-R: Shafraz Mohideen, Arva Taherally, Mohamed Adamaly (Team Leader), OS Rotary President Gerri Lewis, Mayali Jayasinghe, and Nimal Ratnayake
