Mike started by asking if anyone read his article in the latest edition of the Old Saybrook News. He reported that he had just finished with the Board of Finance the night before and was happy to report that even with the big loss in revenue, the town ended with a surplus of $80,000. He asked the B/F for $60K for maintenance of equipment. He was very upbeat as there are new businesses coming to town with a little increase in the economy. A major savings for this year will be $100K with the cut back in the hours of operation for the town transfer station.
Before the question was raised, he did report that the new police station would cost around 4.5 million dollars and a bond issue would be necessary.
