The following is from Nancy Morin:
Peace Pole Dedication – A Day to Remember
Today, our town of Old Saybrook witnessed something truly special—a beautiful Peace Pole dedication ceremony that brought together Rotarians, community members, and friends in celebration of peace and unity. It was a moment for every Rotarian present to feel proud of the values we uphold and the impact we continue to make.
To our incredible Peace Committee: Rosanne Farrell, Chip Adams, Cheryl Nadzam, Maryann Colwick, Nathan Wise, and Tara Winch, thank you for your dedication throughout the past year in sharing Rotary peace within our club and across our community.
Rosanne, your gentle yet fierce commitment to seeing this Peace Pole planted in our town has been nothing short of inspiring. You saw this project through with grace and determination, and we are all so grateful. Your reflections on the significance of the Peace Pole were spot-on. You should be so proud—not only for your work on this project, but for the way you represented us all.
Jan, as President of Old Saybrook Rotary, you represented us so well - as always. Your words today captured the heart of Rotary so beautifully. If I weren’t already a Rotarian, I would have been asking how to join after hearing you speak!
Chip, your explanation of the connection between students, peace, and Rotary’s role was both informative and deeply moving.
Tara, the poem you shared brought everything together in such a meaningful and poetic way.
Carl Fortuna's closing words reminded us all why Rotary matters so much to our town—and why it always will.
Thank you to everyone who made today possible. May this Peace Pole stand as a lasting symbol of our shared commitment to peace, service, and community.
Nancy Morin
