PROGRAM: Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl Fortuna

Good news abounds for Old Saybrook, positive articles in CT Magazine, looking forward to a good summer with good business activity.

Essex Restaurant getting good PR, former SWAG store sold and ready to be developed, Pet Café open and serving.

Benny’s Plaza under new owners and to be redesigned, care to be taken with Alforno’s, Aldi’s may be a new tenant. Zoning has approved the concept, now going before other boards and commissions for final approval.

Gazebo on Town Green needs replacing, town has money in the budget, now looking to Lions Club, and The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook to assist.

Lights on Field project moving forward, following zoning approval town has approved $300,000.00 and Lite Up Saybrook, under Scott Geigrich has raised $190,000.00 Rotary invited to assist.

Old Saybrook Cares, was very successful in helping families during he pandemic. Rotary very involved.

Jobs Act has dollars for infrastructure, could use for the Main Street Safe, project. Improve safety at cross-walks.

Budget for fiscal 2022-2023 being discussed. Approx. 47 mil a 2.5% increase. Mil rate flat, unexpected increased tax revenue from increase in vehicle assessments.

FUND RAISING

  WINE TASTING      Marty Drobiarz

  • Keep working on sponsorships, $8,400.00 in Guilford Savings $1,000.00 on the way.
  • Need auction items, flyers going out, bring items to Marty.
  • Saybrook Point Resort & Marina is a very nice venue for our event.
  • Working on obtaining a liquor license.
  • Ticket sales happening, keep up the good work

SHRED DAY    John Aforismo

  • Sat April 9, 2022 dovetails with District National Service Day
  • OSHS parking lot secured for the event
  • Articles going out to the media.
  • Traffic pattern OK with OS Police Dept.
  • Posters have been printed, need help with distribution
  • 150 name mailing list prepared by John A
