Program: Uganda Well Project Update: Martha Hoffman presenter.

On 6/15/2022, Martha attended our Rotary meeting and asked for the Club’s help in establishing a drilled well in a village in Uganda. The well would enable 930 villagers to have clean water in their village rather than having to walk over 4 KM in order to carry back jerry cans filled with contaminated water.  O.S. Rotary voted to completely fund the $7500.00 Well Project. Nine months, to the day, Martha returned to inform us that the entire project has been completed and the village of Adudal now has clean water available to all villagers. A power point presentation explained the steps involved in the project: site survey, Drilling, Casting and installation, water quality testing and certification, new Jerry Cans, and a village wide celebration. Call to Care Uganda has drilled 79 wells so far and has a goal of 100 plus by 2030.  Chris Ochaloi, our Rotary partner in Adudal, is chairman of the Well Committee that is responsible for supervision and maintenance of the well which will last over 50 years. Martha suggested visiting the calltocareuganda.org website further information and project updates. Martha presented Alan with mounted photographs and a storybook about the entire project from start to finish. Thank you Martha for an informative and moving presentation.
