Announcements:
Our May 8 meeting will be changed to Tuesday May 7 from 6pm-8pm to accommodate special guests from Rotary International and the District. This will take place in the Indian Town Clubhouse on 165 Nehantic Trail, Old Saybrook and there will be wine and beer.
Nancy talked about the Summer Concerts and the need for volunteers. There will be Zoom meetings and she has reviewed some handouts.
Nancy also requested that next year we need more communication to get our name out.
Nancy also indicated that we need to be more diligent in reading our “Rotary” magazine. If we have not received it yet, it should be coming shortly.
Please let Nancy know about the last Student of the Month on May 1. She must communicate an accurate number of attendees.
Kathy C reviewed the 2023-2024 and the 2024-2025 Rotary Club and the Foundation Budget. Kathy indicated that the dues went from $170.00 to $200.00 but the actual cost is $210.00. Please communicate if you are going to continue and give your check to Kathy.
Guest Speaker: Tori Giannini and Ian Killoy from Fine Fettle, gave an overview of their operation that is by appointment only for recreational cannabis. This ties into the limit on in-store transactions per hour. They also discussed the timeline of the history of cannabis acceptance and adherence to town ordinances. They are working to remove the stigma associated with cannabis use saying their customers come from all walks of life. They talked about the types of cannabis and their different effects. Sativa, which provides more of an energizing effect and indica which is more relaxing and can help you sleep.
