THE FOUR WAY TEST of the things we think, say, or do
1) Is it the TRUTH?
2) Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3) Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

PROGRAM: Brett Elliot and Robin Andreoli of The Kate Cultural Arts Center

Brett and Robin brought The Club up to-date on the expansion project at “The Kate.”
The need is to raise $12 million for the additional 7,500 sq ft, to provide new space for programs, office space, museum expansion, and an elevator. Additions will be made on the first and second floors, and expansion to the rear of the building.
The history of the building is interesting. Originally built as a theater, then a movie house, then a basketball court, The Old Saybrook Town Hall, and now back as a, 284, seat theater, “The Kate”.
“The Kate,” opened in 2009 offering one hundred shows, hosting 15,000 patrons. 2025 saw the number of shows increase to 385, hosting 75,000 patrons. Impact on the area is estimated at $36.80 per person, meaning a $3 million impact on the lower Connecticut River area. See a show and make a day of it in Old Saybrook, and surrounding towns.
“The Kate” offers a wide variety of live shows, providing entertainment for everyone. The theater also works closely with the Saybrook School system to provide meaningful expose to the arts, hosting summer camps, children’s theater, and classroom connections.
