     Happy Bucks: Most were for the students, teachers, and administrators. Some for the Rotary and our community outreach, family and good health. Nancy for winning the Beacon Award, for Ralph and his grandchildren, for the Scholarship Committee.

                                                Business Education: Student of the Month

     Tara Winch explained the Award and its relationship with the Rotary International Polio Plus Project. She then introduced the students, teachers, and administrators.

                                                  John Turick: Lyme/Old Lyme High School

     Assistant Principal, Mr. Bushnell, described John as the ideal student. He has a strong work ethic and takes pride in his accomplishments. His kindness and positive attitude make him a natural tutor as he volunteers to help his classmates. John has received recognition for his superior performance in web design. John will be attending Three Rivers Community College in the Fall and plans to major in Psychology.

                                                   Ethan Angelini: Westbrook High School

Assistant Principal, Ms. Gallagher, and Teacher, Mr. Sipala, described Ethan as a kind and respectful student who makes the school a better place. Not only is Ethan an outstanding National Honors Society member but he also excels in athletics. This past year, as Captain, he led the 4 x 200 relay team to a State title! In the classroom, he has demonstrated “business acumen” while earning A+ grades. Ethan will be attending the University of Connecticut’s Business this Fall.

                                           Azemina Cecunjanin: Old Saybrook High School

Principal, Mr. Anastasio, and Teacher, Ms. Dailey, described Azemina as a student who is “awesome, humble, and confidant”. She has been recognized for her service to the school and community. She is involved in student government as well as serving as President of the Decca Club. Through her leadership, the Decca Club was able to obtain funding from the Rotary Club to help finance the Decca Club’s trip to Virginia to attend the National Conference. Azemina thanked our Rotary Club for our support which help send several students to the “ultimate power trip”. Azemina will be attending Connecticut College majoring in International Relations.

Day of Service: Joan W. thanked everyone who participated. The Literacy Themed event took place at a location in each town. Needless to say, a great deal of effort and organization went into this project. Many thanks to Joan and the Day of Service Committee for your time and dedication. Well done!

Memorial Day Parade: if you are marching, meet in the Stop & Shop parking lot at 9:15.  

5 Club Social: Nancy and several of our attendees explained what they learned at the event and encouraged club members to attend this worthwhile networking experience.

Next Meeting: Saybrook Point Inn, June 3rd at 7:00 am. This will be the Student of the Month rescheduled from April.
