Last Wednesday, we gathered for a truly special evening of celebration—the Changing of the Guard. It was a night filled with gratitude, recognition, and camaraderie.
Our program began with a heartfelt Pledge and Prayer led by Gary McCauley, followed by a warm welcome from Debra Lee. We were honored to hear from Stephanie Philips, our incoming District Governor, as she shared a beautiful tribute to all that our club has accomplished over the past year.
I had the privilege of reflecting on this past year and expressing my deepest gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support. Among the many accolades our club received, one significant honor remained—the Governor's Unsung Hero Award. Only 12 Rotarians in the entire District received this award. This award recognizes a Rotarian who:
- Demonstrates dedication to service without expectation of recognition
- Consistently supports fellow Rotarians and club projects
- Contributes positively to club morale and operations
- Embodies the true spirit of Rotary in everyday actions
Congratulations, John Aforismo, for being recognized with the Governor's Unsung Hero Award.
The highlight of the evening was the induction of our 2025–2026 President, Jan Perruccio, along with our newly elected officers:
- Pete Zucco – President-Elect
- Kathy Callinan - Treasurer
- John Aforismo – Secretary
- Mary Polchaninoff – Sergeant-at-Arms
- Marty Palmieri – Sergeant-at-Arms
Jan then delighted us with an incredible video showcasing the memorable moments from the past year. To close our evening, John Aforismo took a special moment to recognize the invaluable contributions of our non-Rotarian spouses, presenting them with heartfelt letters of appreciation.
Beyond the formalities, the evening was filled with joyful conversations, shared laughter, and a deep appreciation for the bonds that unite us. As I reflect on our time together at the Lyme Arts Association, I feel immensely proud to be part of such a wonderful, caring club.
Jan, we are excited to see the direction you will lead us and the meaningful impact you will make. I have no doubt that under your leadership, our club will continue to grow, evolve, and strengthen its positive influence in our community. Wishing you and Pete, as well as Kathy, John, Mary, and Marty P, the very BEST.
Here's to another year of service, friendship, and impact!
