After some opening remarks from outgoing President Gary McCauley, the special cake for the occasion was cut. The club took on a lot of projects and donated to many worthy causes. Most recently, $4,000 was donated for the purchase of a van for a resettled Afghan family in Old Lyme. $1500 was given for a summer lunch program for kids. Gary thanked everyone and said he was glad to meet so many people during his tenure including Judy Sullivan and OS First Selectman Carl Fortuna. Gary had help from new and older members. What we do is a building process, not one and done. Gary then announced the new officers:
- President - Pat Devito
- Vice President - Alan Schwarz
- Treasurer - Kathy Callinan
- Secretary - John Giannini
Assistant District Governor Laima Nori installed the new officers, it was her first time doing this.
Following the installation, Pat Devito presented Gary with the traditional plaque for outgoing presidents.
Pat went on the thank Laima for her support and her strong recommendation for our club receiving the Pettengill award - a big honor. Thanks to Alan for stepping up and being in line to take over for Pat after 1 year (Gary served as president for 2-1/2 years). Pat noted that this club gets a lot done because of the members' attitudes. Pat wants to continue what we're doing and consider new projects to help those in need. We will do an international project and will work on increasing exposure of the club to the communities we serve to let people know more about what we do.
