Lillian’s highlight of the week was meeting students from around the world. Prior to her week at Carroll University, she thought she was interested in working in the field of medicine. The weeks’ experience has moved her to give serious thought to exploring work in international relations. A panelist, a woman from Afghanistan, and Woman of the year, 2012, spoke about expanding the bubble of interest, working toward world peace, begin change, continue working on change, around the world. Lillian had life-changing experience at W.A.S.
Westbrook High School, Anjali Cotton
Anjali also enjoyed the week meeting students from around the world. She thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending time with a fellow student from Columbia. Her experience at W.A.S. cemented her desire to be involved in world relations and problem resolution.
Lyme/Old Lyme High School (Groton), Lauren Herra
Lauren felt that her experience attending W.A.S. met and exceeded expectations. She had a wonderful experience. She commented that fourteen foreign countries were represented along with students from all around the USA, with the largest group being from Wisconsin.
Old Saybrook High School, Joao Victor Contin
Victor could not attend this morning’s meeting. He sent a note saying attending W.A.S. was a wonderful experience. The conference focused on world peace and conflict resolution, along with a study of how the diplomatic corps works.

Report on The Estuary, Alan Schwarz
The Estuary Fund Raiser, Saturday Sept 6th, cost is $100 per person. The Estuary needs money, due to budget constraints. Alan suggested that the Club consider looking into a district managed grant, with the Rotary Clubs of Essex, Clinton, and Deep River.
