Happy Bucks: The majority were for the students, parents, and guests. Several were for the beautiful morning and some were for our successful fundraising efforts during the month of October. Joe is happy to be going to Hawaii for several months.

Program: This is the first in person Student of the Month presentation in two years. Gary explained the selection process and introduced the students and administrators. This month’s awards were presented to outstanding students in the English Department.

     Westbrook High School: Principal, Tara Winch, described Gianni Salisbury as a student who not only excels in every subject but is also a three sport athlete, writes for the literary magazine and the school newspaper and is involved in the school’s theater productions. “A joy to have in the classroom.” Gianni is applying to several collages with plans to major in Communications.

     Lyme/Old Lyme High School: Assistant Principal, Jeanne Manfredi, described William Larson as a “true scholar.” He is involved with Mock Trial and the Quiz Bowl Team as well as a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. William is a school leader as evidenced by his Eagle Scout rank and his participation in the High O’Brian Leadership Conference. His future plans include a major in History and becoming a high school teacher.

     Old Saybrook High School: Principal, Sheila Riffle, described Noah Grace as “a pillar of strength.” He is a member of the National Honor Society while taking every AP Course the school offers. He also excels at baseball as a star pitcher. His English teacher describes Noah as “the best student I have ever taught.” Noah plans to major in Political Science with Law School as his ultimate goal.

President’s Update:

The Club will be working again with the Westbrook Foundation, Westbrook Social Services, and Edd’s Place to provide 50 Thanksgiving meals to Westbrook residents.

      The Turkey Drive, in cooperation with Liberty Bank, is now underway.

      Nancy Morin, Dictionary Coordinator, explained how the distribution to the schools will be conducted this week and next week.

       John A. reported that the Macaroni Dinner had a net profit of $2513.00 (Great Job!)

       Marty announced that the Wine Tasting Event will be on February 18, 2022. Get Ready!

       Pete announced that Gail Fahey will be participating in her final new member orientation meeting on 10/26. Congratulations Gail! Welcome to Rotary.

Rev. Ed Cornell announced his retirement and his resignation from the Club. His plans include working to reduce income inequality on the Shoreline and joining the Madison Rotary. Thank you for your service and good luck in your retirement. You will be missed.
