Dollard “Dee” Cote Past President (1994-1995), The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook, “Dee described his “Canes for Vet's” project. Upon request, Dee custom carves wooden canes for veterans who need a cane. You can call Dee at 207-538-1870 if you'd like him to make a cane. Dee lives in Maine with his wife Phyllis.

PROGRAM: CONNECTICUT BURNS CARE FOUNDATION
Speaker: Dominic Mantuaro, Executive Director

Dominic Mantuano, Executive Director Conn. Burns Care Foundation

Dominic Mantuano is the Executive Director, Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, located in Milford, CT. Dominic gave a very spirited talk as he explained the mission of The Burn Center. He spoke in detail about the children and caregivers he has the privilege of working with.
A special feature of the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation is The Arthur C. Luf Burn Care Camp. ‘The Camp provides medical staff that specialize in burns, including MD’s, PA’s, Registered Nurses, Occupational and Physical Therapists. The Connecticut Burn Center at the Bridgeport Hospital. Many current and retired firefighters, burn survivors, and caring individuals make up the team of service providers.  R Y L A (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)
Two (2) students from Westbrook and one (1) from Lyme/Old Lyme High Schools will be attending R Y L A this weekend October 28,29, 2023. Event held at Camp Hazen Chester, CT.

DICTIONARY PROJECT
Another successful dictionary project completed.

We received a nice Thank You Note from the Garden Club.

TURKEY DRIVE
The effort continues through Saturday November 11, 2023 with all Happy Bucks received going to funding the Turkey Drive.

 DMG (District Managed Grant) ACTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
The DMG final report was sent 10/23/2023 to District 7980
Nancy took the Principal Contact training session.
Nancy urged all members to think about projects deserving of a DMG.
Check on our status regarding a Club Steward and our MOU.
Remember a portion of our dues go to The Rotary International Foundation. Three (3) years later these dollars are available to as through a DMG.

DISTRICT 7980 FOUNDATION MEETING
The meeting will be held on Sunday November 5, 2923, at Saybrook Point Inn. The hours are 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook will have a booth. Make plans to attend

EVENING MEETINGS
Discussion held regarding having one (1) meeting each month an evening meeting. Would this encourage members who cannot attend morning or noon meetings to come to an evening meeting? Decision made to send an e-mail to all members to survey the thinking.

Pat & Pattie Devito have joined Rotary in Longneck, DE
One of their new Rotary Club projects, “Flags for Heroes” LYME/OLD LYME VFW POST 1467. Social gathering Christ the King Catholic Church Old Lyme Saturday October 28, 2023 at 6:00 PM - social hour followed by 7:00 PM dinner and program.
