PRESIDENTS REPORT: Jan Perruccio

1.)             Jan thanked Martha R for bringing the breakfast.

2.)             Alan Schwarz will contact The Rotary Club of Nome, Alaska to see if we can help in recovery from wind damage.

3.)             Jan reported that we are working with District 7980 to help Jamaica recover from hurricane damage.

OUTREACH:    Tara Winch

A.)             Working on, literacy, food insecurity, D E C A.

B.)             Student leadership ventures.

C.)             Warm the Children

DISTRICT MANAGED GRANTS:   David Condren

A.)             M O U’s for Chester, Essex, and Chester Rotary Clubs have been submitted.

B.)             This combination of Clubs plus Old Saybrook will be able to contribute $12,000,00 to purchase an oven for the Estuary

LITERACY:   Mary Polchaninoff

A.)             Working with the three libraries, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and Old Lyme to determine the needs.

B.)             Acton Library can use large print books

C.)             Plan a time when Literacy Volunteers can visit The Club

DAY OF SERVICE:    Joan Winters

A.)             Planning a food drive for Saturday November 21st, 11 AM – 4 PM, Old Saybrook Stop and Shop

B.)             Need workers for 2-hour shifts

C.)             Working on a December food drive in all three towns

FOUNDATION:    Jan Perriccio

A.)             Working on the Grant for the Estuary

PEACE POLES:    Rosanne Farrell

A.)             All four of our Peace Poles out around town

B.)             Group working on innovative ideas to enhance the effect of the Peace Poles

TORCH LIGHT PARADE:     Marty Drobiarz

A.)              Parade is on Friday December 13th, this is our 37th year of hosting

B.)             Looking for workers, kitchen help, and servers

VETERANS DAY:    Joan Winters

A.)             Chip Adams & Tara Winch Westbrook High School

B.)              Bill O’Saughnessy & Debra Lee Lyme/Old Lyme High School.

C.)             Joan Winters & Jan Perriccio Old Saybrook High School.

D.)            Voted to give $50 to three VFW’s, $150.00 total.

A.)             Students of the Month pictures are in all Town Events magazines.

NEW PROJECTS

A.)             Working on a One Hundred Year Celebration of the founding of, “The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook.”

B.)             Working on a web-site update.

C.)             Looking into installing, “The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook” signs in Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and Old Lyme.
