PRESIDENT’S UPDATE

  • Asst D G Rick Basset will be with us Wed Dec 1 2021 for an update
  • Liberty Banks Happy Bucks will go to “Soup Kitchen”
  • Westbrook Grant Thanksgiving Dinner project on track
  • Received a thank you letter from “Bikes for Kids’ Our $1,000.00 went to fund “The Polar Express” event where youngsters went on a train ride with Santa and then were presented with a new bike at The Wheel House.  Great event.
  • Received thank you letters from a Student of the Month recipient.
  • Reminder the “Frosty 5” event coming Sat December 4, 2021 at OSHS All members encouraged to participate the day of the event.
  • Torchlight Parade on track for December 11, 2021 March & visit tent!

PROGRAM

Our guest speaker was Bill Tait, Financial Advisor of Essex Financial.  Essex Financial is in charge of, “The Rotary Club of Old Saybrook Foundation”. 

Bill talked about the market in general, small cap funds pass along increases from the market, while large cap funds absorb losses.

“The Foundation”, is in balanced Funds to take advantage of market conditions.  We are invested, 75% equities and 25% bonds, so “The Foundation”, has grown substantially as the market has grown these past few years.

Many activities in today climate affect the market. Infrastructure, roads and bridges, human infrastructure, technology advances, govt stimulus, inflation at 6%, and many more.

FUND RAISING

  • Final invoice is in!! Gross $24,166.00 expenses $11,721.00 for a net profit of $12,445.00  Great!
