Student of the Month: Social Studies
Ms. Winch provided the history of the Student of the Month Award and then introduced the students, teachers and the administrators from each school district.
Old Saybrook High School: Rebecca DeMaio
Principal, Mr. Anastasio, and teacher, Ms. Payne, described Rebecca as the “shining star of Old Saybrook High School!” In addition to volunteering for several school wide activities and programs, Rebecca is an active member of the National Honor Society and Captain of the Cheerleading Squad. She is presently enrolled in the Future Teachers Internship Program and is planning to major in School Counseling and Secondary Education next Fall.
Lyme/Old Lyme High School: Christopher Dagher
Assistant Principal, Mr. Bushnell, and teacher, Ms. Hylas, described Christopher as a well-rounded student and a “quiet Leader.” He is the Vice-President of his class as well as the Captain of the Mock Trial Team. He loves History and has taken several AP courses. His presence in the classroom “sets the proper tone for learning to take place.” Christopher also has a love for music as evidenced by the fact that he is a self-taught saxophone player. He plans on enrolling in a Pre-Med program next year.
Westbrook High School: Maria Sicha
Principal, Mr. Talmadge, and teacher, Ms. Stopa, described Maria as a joy to have in class. She is hardworking, determined, and always asks thoughtful questions. She is the type of student who “adds value to the school community”. Maria is an active member of the FBLA and petitioned her way into the AP Psychology class. She recently enrolled in the highly competitive summer program, at Yale University, for Future Law Enforcement Opportunities. Maria plans on a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Pre-Law next Fall.

Coat Drive: John A was extremely pleased with the results. Thirty sets of coats, gloves and scarves were delivered to Old Saybrook Youth and Family Services on Tuesday while seventeen sets will be delivered to Westbrook on 12/11. Good job John and the committee!
Food Drives: Jan reported the 2109 pounds of food were collected and $1081 were donated. Thank you to Joan W. and the many volunteers who participated.
Torchlight Parade 12/13: Marty reported that “we are all set to go!” Hot chocolate makers should report to the Estuary at 4:00 pm and the foodies should report to the tent at 5:00 pm. This is the 37th year that we have participated!
Wine Tasting: This major fundraiser will take place on 4/10/26. Its not too early to think about auction items of higher value and potential sponsors that need a lot of lead time.
Discussion: The Club is searching for a new meeting site for the noon meetings. Contact John A with your suggestions.
Roger Epply Prints: There are still several prints available. $120 for unmatted, $150 for matted. Contact Pete Zucco for purchasing options.
