Happy Bucks: Many and varied. Happy for the R Y L A students, the day and to have John LaPlante with us.
We had four R Y L A Students with us this morning. Josh Scherber and Liam O'Donnell from Old Saybrook Senior High School, along with Sam Stadnick from Lyme Old Lyme High School, Lily Hartmann from Lyme/Old Lyme High School could not make the meeting however she attended the conference. Everyone reported that they had a very rewarding experience. with meaningful exchanges with students from High Schools around District 7980.
Rotarian John LaPlante gave a very inspiring talk about his experiences in the Peace Corp. He commented that you do not go where you would like to serve rather you go where you are sent and do what project needs doing. One of John's jobs was to read to a class of students and then get them to talk with him in English. John has written a book that he had available for sale after the meeting. An outstanding program from a Rotarian's Rotarian. More to follow.
