Announcements:
    Bill O'Shaughnessy talked about his recent makeup at the Racebrook Country Club. The GSE team bound for Sri Lanka was in attendence. Bill also made up recently in Madison.
    Gerri read a letter from the Westbrook Youth & Family services thanking the club for our donation.
    The meeting scheduled for Jan. 31 is an evening meeting at Luigis Restaurant. Please sign up. Keith will speak on his recent trip to India. $16pp at 5:30pm
    An email from John Donnelly was read and he spoke of the Interact Club and their plans for doing a Habitat for Humanity project in the spring.
    The Rotary Club of Nepal has sent greetings and invitations to visit the land of the Himalayans and Mt. Everest. With a stable government in place, Nepal is trying to re-establish their tourism industry.
    The District Conference in Saratoga is soon and they are looking for all clubs to donate an item worth at least $75 for a silent auction.

Program:
    There was no formal program so Bill Suits took the initiative and spoke about life way back when. Bill was born in 1933 just after the Great Depression and he spoke about life back then and baseball. Bill saw Mickey Mantle hit a ball over 500ft on April 15, 1953 in a game at Yankee Stadium against the Washington Senators.
    In 1942 you could buy a car for $1100 and gas was $0.19 per gallon.
    Keith got up and spoke a little about his trip to India. At one of his Rotary Meetings, the GSE team from South Africa was present. Keith became the translator because he spoke the best English.
    Andy Anderson pointed out that the Hartford Public High School Class of 2006 only graduated 29% of the original enrolled. Old Saybrook is very close to 100%.
