next year, to be given by a representative of the IRS. He also indicated we would have
no meeting on December 28th.
Charlie Norz thanked those that assisted in the Dictionary project a month ago.
Marty thanked all that helped during the Torchlight Parade. It was a very nice time
and a lot of fun.
Student of the Month Presentation: Carroll Bowser and Heather Gagnon introduced
our Students of the Month in Social Studies. They are -
Lyme/Old Lyme: Principal Tony Carrana presented senior Nick Walker who has
a lot of school spirit and is always there to help in any way he can. He'll take on
projects from start to finish. As well as being an outstanding student, he's Captain of
the track team and an All-State Runner. He hopes to attend Bowdoin College and
follow his interest in history and creative writing. We wish him well!
Westbrook: Principal Bob Hale presented senior Mike Honan. Mike was a recent
representative to Boy's State. He plays trombone in the band and is the chorus. He's
also on the track and soccer teams and is in the National Honor Society. His interest
in history has focused on post WWll wars such as Korea and especially Vietnam,
which aren't covered very well in our current history curriculum. Besides history he
has interests in business and economics. He's not sure what he'll major in, in
college, but we're sure he'll do well in whatever field of study he embarks on.
Old Saybrook: Vice Principal Tara Winch presented Katy Beezer, a junior this
year. She's active in field and track and the performing arts. She's also doing very
well in a very difficult honors class. She's very interested in government & civics
and is fascinated with Washington, DC. She's been there several times it seems.
She'll probably pursue a course of study when she enters college that will follow
these interests. (besides her parents this morning, her grandmother was in
attendance at our meeting.)
