Students of the Month: Gerri Lewis
    We were fortunate to have 5 outstanding students in attendance. Today, we combined both January and February recipients because the meeting scheduled in January was cancelled due to the weather.

January Students of the Month for Science
    Justin Zabilansky, Lyme-Old Lyme: Justin is an excellent student and athlete and does much volunteer work. He is a captain of the baseball and football team and president of the Honor Society. Justin loves physics and history and plans to attend MIT to study mechanical engineering.
    Alexander Lawton, Westbrook: Alexander has taken UCONN physics, an independent study in biology and is the valedictorian of his class. He has served on the State Student Advisory Council. Alexander is a member of the National Honor Society and played on the soccer and tennis team. He has been accepted into the UCONN honors program though he hasn't made a final decision on what college he will attend.
February Students of the Month for World Language
    
Sophia Harvey, Lyme-Old Lyme: Sophia came to L-OL high school as a sophmore, skipped French 3 and went right to French 4. Sophia is doing an independent study in French Literature. She founded the French Club in school and loves theater and film. Sophia is taking a course in advanced film studies.
    Erica Martel, Westbrook: Erica is on the soccer and tennis team and participates in lots of clubs in school. She is especially active in the Red Flag Campaign against spousal abuse. Erica loves to travel. She plans on attending Clemsen and hopes to go on to medical school.
    Joe Ferrantelli, Old Saybrook: Joe is a terrific athlete in addition to his academic ability. He takes an active role in Spanish class, leading debates spoken in Spanish. He also helps other students.

Annoucnements:
    Joan announced that in the next week or two, John Donnelly will discuss a grant proposal of $30K to benefit libraries in Ghana. This would be a matching grant from the district.
    Matt Vogt is leading our club's participation in the annual Chamber of Commerce Chile contest on March 5. Chef Mark will make the chile and we will administer from 11 to 3. Please plan on helping out.
