Joan talked about the YMCA's STONG KIDS CAMPAIGN. There are numerous levels of giving to help build strong kids. To donate online, go to www.ymcastrongkids.org/CT.
The 'Y', incorporated in 1917, serves 12 communities with 8,657 members. Joan started out working the front desk 2 days/week when she moved to this area. The Y has been making kids feel safe at the child care center for 25 years. The aquatic center (AQUADOME) in Madison is part of the Y with 6 after school programs in 5 communities and 300 kids in addition to the Westbrook facility. Another program, "Activate America", combats child obesity. The Fit Kids program for first graders, teaches swimming and safety around water. A 4 minute video presentation was shown.
